From a coffee shop near the north shore of Lake Pontchatrain

Lou and many other Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity volunteers are helping build new homes (five) in Mandeville, Louisiana. I'm vegging today, January 27, 2014, at The Scotts' Coffee and Tapas Bar about a block from this lake.

The build started today, Tuesday, January 27. Lou and I arrived in Mandeville on Sunday afternoon. We shopped at Fresh Market (no Whole Foods in Mandeville until January 2016) and got settled in our rental cottage.

The cottage comes with two bicycles that must date back to the time that I learned how to ride a Montgomery Wards bike when I was 10 years old. Walking may be faster than riding these one speed, rather rusty contraptions.

Today, I walked to this coffee shop. It's a sunny, relatively warm day in Mandeville.

Posted are some photos from our trip to Covington, LA, yesterday (Monday, January 26) along with photos of the sunset over Lake Pontchatrain from the deck of a pub overlooking the lake.

After enjoying an IPA at this pub, the Milwaukee Habitat contingent had dinner at an Italian seafood restaurant not too far from our cottage.
